How to Save on Your Water Use

Dawn S. • May 16, 2022

A lot of us are trying to find ways to save money these days. Everything is so expensive!

Other than with your regular purchases and services, you can save money at home without thinking about it. Here are some tips:

1.      Take your vehicle to a car wash. Using your water at home to wash your car uses a lot of water. If you like to spend the time on a nice day making your car shiny, wash it at a car wash, head home then do all the things that clean up your car nicely.

2.      Install low flow toilets. Replacing old toilets with more water efficient toilets will save you money in the long run. You will save about 50% of the water that is used with an older toilet. The team at A Rescue Rooter will install it correctly for you.

3.      Keep your pool covered. If the pool is uncovered when not being used, water is being evaporated which means having to add new water all the time.

4.      Use your dishwasher regularly. Believe it or not, a dishwasher uses less water then washing dishes by hand, especially is if it’s an Energy Star appliance. Be even more efficient and don’t rinse your dishes before you put them in the dishwasher, just scape off the excess food. The dishwasher’s job is to wash.

5.      Shut off the water when brushing your teeth. So much unused water is being wasted down the drain. Think about all the people in your house who brush their teeth.

6.      Look for and repair leaks as they happen. Anything that drips and leaks is just a waste of money. The team at A Rescue Rooter will fix anything for you, 24/7.

7.      Install a more efficient shower head. This will use less water. Which leads to the next point…

8.      Take showers instead baths. A shower uses far much less water than a bath. Consider having a bath as a “treat,” not a regular occurrence.
